I’ve been thinking about the target audience for this content, as it is quite specific and technical. If the shorts are intended to inform the existing community, this is great. However, if the target group is broader, it might be necessary to keep things higher-level and perhaps include animations or diagrams. I realize this takes time and money, but I’d love to hear the strategy behind the shorts
Hi @weiglt
The shorts are meant as a supplementary way to learn about our approach. Instead of watching the full Q&A from our last meetup, people can find answers to individual questions in shorts.
We also posted some shorts here around our recent publications. Again, those are supplementary, and people who prefer different formats can dive into our plain language explainer blog posts, video presentations, or the papers themselves.
Those can be found here:
- Monty capabilities paper resources: https://thousandbrains.org/thousand-brain-systems-sensorimotor-intelligence-for-rapid-robust-learning-and-inference-a-plain-language-explainer/
- Hierarchy or heterarchy paper resources: Hierarchy or Heterarchy? A Theory of Long-Range Connections for the Sensorimotor Brain: A Plain-Language Explainer | Thousand Brains Project
The video presentations linked there include many images, diagrams, plots, and more detailed explanations to summarize the main points of the papers. Since we are focused on research and building the Monty platform, we currently don’t do marketing to reach an even broader audience than the ones I mentioned above. We do our best to make our work as accessible as possible with the limited resources we have. If someone else has experience and interest in creating easier-to-digest shorts (or other content) we’d be happy to collaborate ![]()
Einstein couldn’t “see” the universe as math, so he reframed it visually. Heisenberg couldn’t “see” the universe visually and reframed it as pure math that is still being understood.
