Hi everyone, my name is James, I have been following Numenta research casually for about ten years and used to be active on the old forum ([here’s](https://discourse.numenta.org/t/introduce-yourself/122/72) my old intro post from over there). I live on the opposite side of the globe but managed to attend a couple of Numenta in-person events pre-covid during work trips to SF.

I have been so busy running a software company for the past five years that I kind of missed the announcement about this new forum, which means I have a lot of research updates to catch up on!

The rise of Large Language Models has been an interesting tangent for me for the past couple of years (and a professional necessity) but I remain primarily interested in how intelligence works, so I am really glad to see this area of research persist when the rest of the world seems to have pivoted. I really love having TBP research updates posted online, helps me follow along at least at a high level.

I don’t have any immediate plans to use the Monty project, but I may take a look at it if I feel the need to get hands-on to understand the research better.

Personally I live near Newcastle, Australia with my wife, two kids, one cat, two chickens and five fish. It is such a nice part of the world that I cannot help enjoying the outdoors (hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, etc).
