Ernst from Illinois

Hello everyone!

I’m retired now, so I suppose my new title is “independent researcher.” :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

My career was in the skilled trades, but I’ve had a lifelong interest in mathematics, information theory, and binary-level encoding.

For many years, I’ve experimented with finite dynamical systems, particularly binary transformations that produce discrete limit cycles. I’ve been exploring the idea of treating these cycles as mathematical data objects rather than simply sequences of binary states.

I’m new to the Thousand Brains Project and am learning about Monty. I’m curious whether some of the dynamical constructs I’ve worked with might have applications in memory, representation, or neural processing.

I’m here to learn, exchange ideas, and hopefully make a friend or two who enjoys exploring these subjects.

Looking forward to getting acquainted!

Hi @Ernst03,

It’s wonderful to meet you! Welcome to the community!

With warmth,

Interesting idea! I’m curious whether treating a repeating binary cycle as a single object has any connection to the idea of invariant representations in the Thousand Brains Theory. Is that something you’re exploring, or is your work heading in a different direction?

FYI: I’m also in the trades somewhat. I do facilities management for a theater and stage company, and I have a commercial cleaning service on the side.
