I’m more interested in personal non-work applications, but if it’s used weekly or more at work I’d still be very curious if anyone is using Monty consistently. I haven’t gotten my hands dirty with the code yet, but if a practical application resonated with me I’d probably lose sleep until I had a prototype working ![]()
Not yet. Work just got super busy. That said, once I get more free time, there were two things I was thinking of tinkering with:
1.) a network topological mapper
2.) a root cause analyzer
I work IT. The one big issue I’ve found with actively pursuing Monty application is that, at least in my field, a lot of the use cases already have fairly robust, dedicated automation tools, making justification for creating a bespoke Monty solution a bit of a hard sell.
As far as personal stuff goes, I’m still wanting to poke around with spatial systems and policy state dynamism. But like I said, I’m just swamped with other things ATM. Probably won’t get a lot of free time for Monty stuff until late fall.
How about you? You were working on some home assistant stuff last I checked, right?
Oooh, thanks for sharing. I don’t use Home Assistant, but I do have a voice system that I use for tracking my cats’ litter use and such.
The Monty use-case I’ve had in mind, not sure if it’s a fit, would be to track the location of one of my cats using (initially) voice notes. Namely, he spends a lot of time in front of my whiteboard and in a room I want to sweep and vacuum without bothering him, so if predicting his location were easier, I could plan my day more easily.
